The cutting edge is dull and the plastic frame not stable for use for pet of any size. One use or attempt to use and put them aside. Not recommended. I have two German Shepherds so I needed something that was tough. These are not it! The blade shifts while you cut and because the blade is on the outside closest to you, you have no control over where you want to cut (that natural groove) This doesn't allow you angle the nail back. If you try turning the blade around it crushes the nail. Do not buy these clippers, they are not hardy enough to use on large dogs. These clippers are my favorite style of clippers, but I really find these to be just a little sub par. They feel cheaply made, and the blade is not as sharp as other clippers of this style I have owned before. The sharpness of the blade is my most salient complaint against this product, as a dull blade can really cause a pet's nail to splinter and split to the quick, which is really painful for the pet. However, these are not so dull as to cause that every time, but they take some getting used to. Overall, not a very expensive pair of clippers and in this case, you get what you pay for.
